James Robert (Jim Bob) Duggar (born 1963), of Tontitown, Arkansas, served in the Arkansas House of Representatives from 1999 to 2002.
Duggar was a candidate for the United States Senate in 2002, but lost to Tim Hutchinson. Duggar sought the Republican nomination to the Arkansas State Senate District 35 seat in Arkansas in 2006, but lost to candidate Bill Pritchard. Duggar is a real estate agent, and owns several commercial properties in his local area.
Duggar and his wife Michelle are politically conservative fundamentalist Christians who endorse Quiverfull and the teachings of Bill Gothard. They reportedly live debt-free.
Family
Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar are best known for being the parents of seventeen children, ten boys and seven girls, each given a name beginning with the letter J.
The Duggars' seventeenth child, Jennifer, who was born in August 2007, joined siblings Joshua (1988), twins Janna and John David (1990), Jill (1991), Jessa (1992), Jinger (1993), Joseph (1995), Josiah (1996), Joy-Anna (1997), twins Jedidiah and Jeremiah (1998), Jason (2000) James (2001), Justin (2002), Jackson (2004), Johannah Faith (2005).
The family has been featured in many print articles and television spots, and has been filmed for four television shows on the Discovery Health Channel and The Learning Channel.
