Richard Perry is one of the most successful producers in music history and over his 40 year career in music has produced albums that have resulted in album sales of over 75 million copies. He has worked with such legendary artists as The Beatles (on two Ringo Starr solo albums), Rod Stewart, Barbra Streisand, Carly Simon, Harry Nilsson, The Pointer Sisters, Tina Turner, Ray Charles, Diana Ross, Patti LaBelle, Martha Reeves, Art Garfunkel, The Temptations, Neil Diamond, Julio Iglesias and Willie Nelson. Perry was the founder of Planet Records.

It was Perry's idea to do the Great American Songbook with Rod Stewart and thus created an entire new genre of American Music which has revitalized the music industry. The first two volumes sold over ten million units worldwide.

He has successfully used that genre again with Carly Simon, and Art Garfunkel.

The Perry and Simon relationship goes back to the Perry produced "No Secrets" which featured the legendary song "You're So Vain". In 2005 the Perry/Simon standards collaboration "Moonlight Serenade" was released and, with that, Perry gave Simon her first top ten album in 27 years. They also did a concert on the Queen Mary 2 on the high seas which became a PBS special.

His Art Garfunkel standards album has been universally praised.

Perry has had albums in the top ten every decade since the 1960's.
