Sariyer is a sleepy suburb on the outskirts of European Istanbul proper. It was once a fishing village but now houses many expensive villas owned by many of Istanbul's rich business men, actors and musicians.

The centre of Sariyer has a small harbour were fishing is still practiced and a long line of famous fish restaurants, cafes and bars where many of Istanbul's city residents come to eat and drink at the weekends.

Many of the resturants are owned by famous musicians who sometimes put on live shows for customers.
