B-101

Vote here (2/3/4) ending 22:42 17 June 2005 (UTC)

Hello, this is B-101 and I would like to become an administrator, thereby nominating myself for a second time. I believe that Misplaced Pages is a great website and I go to it everyday, I started using it during 2004 and became a user in August of 2004. If I become an administrator, I will be no different than the other users. Over the last few months, I have done some RC patrolling and have been putting on description for my edits. I now hope you will judge me better now.- B-101 01:41, 22 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Support

  1. Support- can't really see why not. He seems to be eager, has been around for a while and has accumulated quality edits (now with edit summaries for the most part!). Though some of his actions may not have been Wikipedially (is that a word?) correct, such as putting his self-nomination in the regular nomination section, we must assume good faith- after all, we all make mistakes. He has (from the edits I looked at) improved since his last self-nom. Flcelloguy 02:08, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC)
  2. Good Wikipedian. ✏ OvenFresh² 02:02, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Oppose

  1. Doesn't seem to know wikipedia formating, and it seems he didn't know earlier. I might support is he fixes the problem. Howabout1 Talk to me! 00:19, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC)
  2. Oppose. User has failed to provide diffs answering questions layed out by other users. Even if the user didn't know what a diff was, he could have at least asked for clarification. To me, this demonstrates a lack of caring, which is not very reassuring. Linuxbeak | Talk | Desk 20:29, Jun 14, 2005 (UTC)

Would you be able to provide a basis for your oppose vote? Linuxbeak | Talk | Desk 11:05, Jun 16, 2005 (UTC)

Neutral

  1. I don't know if I can support someone who demonstrates their inability to follow directions by putting a self-nom in the regular nomination section. --Carnildo 23:12, 10 Jun 2005 (UTC)
  2. Neutral I cannot vote either way unless the questions for the candidate are answered in a more complete fashion, especially the section concerning conflicts and Wikistress. Bratsche 12:48, Jun 11, 2005 (UTC)
  3. Use of edit summaries is too inconsistent and the quantity of activity in the Misplaced Pages namespace too sparse for me to be convinced that this editor has the quality and degree of community involvement that I expect of an admin. Kelly Martin 16:07, Jun 11, 2005 (UTC)
  4. Based on this user's contributions within the past month, I fail to see the current need to be promoted to an admin. Any evidence of recent RC patrolling is very sparse. The activity in the Misplaced Pages namespace such as VFD and CFD is also sparse. I also do not see any janitorial or copyediting work on articles on various topics that are beyond this user's interests. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 14:05, 12 Jun 2005 (UTC)
  5. Neutral.. I agree with Carnildo. Your edits for the most part look good, but you don't seem to have a grasp on how things work. Linuxbeak | Talk | Desk 01:08, Jun 11, 2005 (UTC)

Comments

  • B-101's first nomination failed by a vote of 1/9/3, based mainly on his lack of knowledge about Misplaced Pages policy. As Carnildo noted, he posted his self-nom in the wrong area on this page. I'll need some proof he's grasped Misplaced Pages fully. Harro5 23:24, Jun 10, 2005 (UTC)
  • B-101, to get an idea of what you've done on Misplaced Pages, I'd ask that you answer question two a bit more thoroughly and provide links to pages you mention to help voters see how you have helped the project.
  • I will propose a deal to B-101. Reanswer the three generic questions with a little more thought into the responses, and I'll reconsider my vote to support. However, if no action is taken within 48 hours, I am changing my vote to oppose on the basis that the user isn't caring enough to be an admin. Linuxbeak | Talk | Desk 01:29, Jun 12, 2005 (UTC)
    • Okay... that's a step in the right direction but I'm looking for some specific examples. Provide at least three diffs for question 2 and at least two for question 3. Linuxbeak | Talk | Desk 13:38, Jun 12, 2005 (UTC)

Questions for the candidate

Q. B-101, please provide some information on what Misplaced Pages-space activites you currently get involved in (eg:RC patrol, VfDs, peer review, etc). Harro5 05:18, Jun 11, 2005 (UTC)
A. Since my attempt to be an admin, I have done some RC patrolling since March.

A few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:

1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? (Please read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.)
A. I would do more RC patrolling and also help with page deletion. Along with adding to other pages, RC will be my highest priority as I strongly dislike those who vandalise Misplaced Pages. I am currently trying to get RMS Titanic to be a featured article. Vote for it!
2. Of your articles or contributions to Misplaced Pages, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
A. I would say my The Simpsons episode pages are my pride and joy since I know an awful lot about the show. I also think my info on Star Wars is wonderful. I also add to pages that I know a little about. Along with my recent edits on Titanic, I also have created some small pages (such as Smallpox (movie) and clip show). I have yet to create one truly wonderful page.
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
A. I don't really have any stress over edits on Misplaced Pages. I did once have a little conflict on Admiral Piett on using "Super Star Destroyer" or "Star Dreadnought" and on the deal with the deflector domes. This ended in a compromise. However, I am frustrated that my comments on talk pages aren't always answered on the same day. As for my stress, I agree with the Wikipedian who said that "it can't be measured like a linear equation". I also had a little problem when I said that the Trade Federation is a company and also when I was trying to save "Battle of the Cowshed" from deletion.
