The following is a proposed Misplaced Pages policy, guideline, or process. The proposal may still be in development, under discussion, or in the process of gathering consensus for adoption.

Template standardisation aims to create a standard and consistent design for templates. In 2005 talk page templates were standardised but at the present time those tags that appear in articles are very varied.

Reasoning

The tags that we use to notify people of problems within an article are on thousands of our pages. Our readers see them and judgements are made not only about the article itself but about the project itself. Currently we have a myriad of templates that share often share some level of consistency but still look very mismatched.

The proposal below aims to address these issues. The thinking behind the design is:

  • It is colour-coded but without using an overpowering amount
  • Standard widths
  • Generally a better design than we have now
  • It is easily implemented

Design

Note: The wording of these templates is not under discussion and will likely be older versions of the current text.
