Though many scholars and musicians may have existed in their court from the begining of their rule, it is only from the rule of Raja Wodeyar (1578 CE) that records mention scholars and writers and their writings and only from the rule of King Ranadheera Kanteerava Narasaraja Wodeyar (1638) records of these writings are actually available.
