Who I am; Misplaced Pages

This user lives in Seattle.

I'm a public policy analyst by training and an NGO manager by profession. At the moment my main Misplaced Pages interests concern Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) and the propaganda opposing it, although I hope to participate in other articles on subjects within my areas of expertise.

This user is a practitioner of parody, as well as whimsy and sarcasm.

This user is politically liberal.

Articles I have edited

Education

I attended the University of Washington twice, first receiving a B.A. from the Political Science department, the second time a Masters from the Graduate School of Public Affairs, which now insists on calling itself The Evans School (what Dale Evans had to do with public policy, I have no idea).

K Network

HTML-3This user is an advanced HTML user.

The Kinetic Network is my primary online presence, launched at the end of 2000 and thereafter subjected to regular expansions, contractions and makeovers. The Particulars page links to a design portfolio of some other sites I designed and administer. Think on this: Is there a rate card?

I blog on the red page, Mr_Blog's Left Turn (aka Wiseline Institute NW). Best of Wiseline Institute

The indigo page, the Capper National Laboratory, contains substantial background information concerning applied uses of Mystery Science Theater 3000, aka online captioning (capping). The Laboratory page is fairly update-free these days.

Personal Rapid Transit

My involvement in the field of Personal Rapid Transit is as a journalist, commentator and researcher (see K Network gold page). I am a proponent of the technology, tending to approach the subject from the standpoint of PRT as a policy option, and how it would be experienced by the end-user. I also counsel proponents to be realistic with their promises, and consider how their designs will interact with conventional technologies.

Debunking the anti-PRT propaganda campaign

(Welcome Misplaced Pages Review readers!) Personal Rapid Transit is somewhat misunderstood, due in part to the volume and nature of incorrect claims made by opponents. Here are fact-based analyses (as well as satire and parody) of those erroneous claims:
