It is known as the meeting place of Cuban exiles based in Florida.
A number of Cuba-related events happened here, according to popular belief:
- Mauro Casagrandi was first approached by the CIA in an attempt to recruit him.
- Arnaldo Ochoa plotted against Fidel Castro with the support, according to some allegations, of Jorge Más Canosa and other Cuban exiles.
- Tony de la Guardia also plotted against Fidel Castro's regime, or, according to other versions, sold cocaine imported from Colombia via Cuba.
- Maurizio Giuliano received the support of Ileana Ros-Lehtinen for the publication of classified documents related to the purge of the Centro de Estudios sobre América by Ediciones Universal
- Elizardo Sánchez founded the "Cuban Human Rights and National Reconciliation Commission" and the opposition "Cuban Socialist Party".
