Nigel David Jones (born 30 March 1948) is a politician in the United Kingdom. He was Liberal Democrat member of Parliament for Cheltenham from 1992,(where he won the seat from the Conservative Party's Charles Irving) until he stepped down at the 2005 general election.

In 2000, a deranged constituent attacked him and an assistant, Andrew Pennington (a local councillor) with a Japanese samurai sword. Pennington was killed, and Jones was severely injured. The assailant, Robert Ashman, was found guilty of manslaughter and attempted murder, and was sent to a secure hospital.

On 13 May 2005 it was announced that he would be created a life peer.
