Evacuation Day is also observed in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The holiday was first proclaimed in 1941.
March 17 also happens to be St. Patrick's Day which gives Boston's large Irish and Irish descendant population an additional reason to celebrate.
For other uses of the term, see Evacuation Day.
