The Barnstar of Anonymous Contribution | ||
I hereby award you, the anonymous contributors hailing from 156.34.0.0 - 156.34.255.255, with The Barnstar of Anonymous Contribution, for the unsung and thankless service you have rendered unto Misplaced Pages, in your countless minor edits and bigger contributions over time. They have made a difference in our community and hopefully retelling this event to the barmen you encounter may bring forth the odd free beer to wrap in your hand. Thanks!--Alf 14:23, 3 April 2007 (UTC) and Bubba hotep 14:24, 3 April 2007 (UTC) |
- tears, smiles, waves to the audience as he walks down the podium, kisses losing IPs on the cheek. 156.34 is a team of bored librarians(and the occasional vandalising student...but we'll ignore them). On behalf of the "library crew"..we thank you for the token of Wiki-appreciation. 156.34.142.110 14:35, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
Actually, this has more historical significance than appears on the surface. You see, this is probably the only Barnstar young Alfred has given out this year (something about losing the keys to the cabinet or something) so, as such, is rare indeed. Guard it with your life. ;) Bubba hotep 14:49, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
- I've swallowed the Barnstar key :) . Twenty years ago...in a bar in Halifax...I met Lemmy. He's not a very big man but his presence in the bar seemed to cast a veil of fear and trepidation over all the bikers and longshoremen in the establishment. With great anxiety I walked up to him and struck up a brief conversation about A) That I was a fan and B) That Motorhead's music really meant a lot to me.( I had tipped a few I expect I sounded like an idiot). Lemmy simply smiled/grunted/said thanks and clinked my glass. If I can stand up to him....Misplaced Pages vandals are easy. Have a nice day. 156.34.142.110 15:01, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

User talk vandalism
Haha, I noticed you had another vandal come round these parts and offer his comedic changes to my messages. "Just thought I would pop dicks" - What a kind I.P. address you had vandalising you! Has that been sorted now? Btw, I thought I messaged you a few days ago saying something... I said thanks and said a bit more about that renegade admin, I also mentioned something about this Republican I.P. address that only seems to make discussion page edits. He seems to, usually, only add discussion to fairly controversial topics such as Global Warming. They're usually POV and crap, so I have so far either removed them for being off-topic or pointed out that he and his source are wrong . He has made a bunch of those sorts of claims on other liberal-orientated articles. I don't know if he can be classed as a troll as such but he still seems like a prick. Are people allowed to only make discussion edits? He also made a stab at Britain on the Glasgow Bombing article discussion page which duly irritated me. I wanted to rip into him for that but just removed it for being off topic. Well anyway, I really did think I left a message like this already... maybe there was a database lag or something and it didn't let me... How are you getting on, anyway? Take care! Hooah! Scarian 14:14, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
- hehe, awesome picture. Here is the follow-up warning I gave the I.P., can you check it to make sure it's okay and not out of place? Cheers Lib's! Scarian 15:19, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
Thank you

So here is a barnstar for being my unofficial mentor and for giving me some great times on Misplaced Pages. It's also for cleaning up a lot of the junk that makes it onto here... Tally Ho! Take care, friend. Scarian 14:11, 27 October 2007 (UTC) |
Guess...
What I did over the weekend? I went through a bunch of rap articles replacing "beef" with "altercation" or "argument" or "row". I even had the backing of an admin. - Take a look at that and the one two edits afterwards. Reply here because I want that insult in pristine condition :-D Scarian 20:58, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
Re: Yngwie Malmsteen
I'd say no. If we wanted to we could enforce this in the template by making the infobox not generate the members sections for non-group artists. Or perhaps there should be an option to add a separate section to a non-group artists for backing bands, using the group_or_band color, using a "Misc" section or similar, like we do for albums. This section could then also include the name of the backing band.
BTW, would you consider adding a notice to the talk pages of the other IPs you edit under that links here, to make this page easier to find? --PEJL 06:46, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
Re:
Oh yeah, malfunction, he has been around. And I see you along with others keeping him off. Besides this, there is one small problem though. regarding the black metal bands (first wave) viz. venom, hellhammer, celtic frost. now basically these bands are thrash, as far as i gather from their wp articles, well thrash with satan worship, pseudonyms, and corpsepaint. They are different from the black metal bands, mayhem and all. I was thinking whether they really belong to the thrash list: wp cites their albums as thrash, speed, black; and is not of much help. As of now they are on the list. Weltanschaunng 06:54, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
- Hey, it was a real help! I didn't know that the distinction between the genres was so fluid. It really helps to have someone with first hand knowledge of the metal world. Thanks!
Weltanschaunng 04:41, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
On the same note, I was considering possessed's position in the list. I have heard them alright, and that not death, atleast on the seven churches album. considering what you said, I guess I will add their albums to the list after all. Why even death can be included to the list! Weltanschaunng 14:32, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
That's a tougher call isn't it? I have never thought of them as a thrash band myself. I always thought they were the first death metal band... the first one I ever heard anyways. But yes, they do have that one album that's always cited as a more straight ahead thrash album... and a good one at that. Your call... I certainly see no harm in their mention. It's pretty obvious that all the earliest death metal bands started out as thrash bands and then injected that "other element" that separates the two genres. Likely from the early Slayer influence + Dark Angel and the first Exodus' Bonded by Blood... are all the 'blueprints' that influenced the early death metal shift.. especially the Florida scene. 156.34.142.110 15:06, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
