Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky (sometimes spelt Modeste Moussorgsky) (1839-1881), was a Russian composer.


He is best remembered today for his cycle of piano pieces, Pictures at an Exhibition, which he wrote in commemoration of his friend, the architect Viktor Hartmann.
