Barnstar

The Barnstar of Anonymous Contribution
I hereby award you, the anonymous contributors hailing from 156.34.0.0 - 156.34.255.255, with The Barnstar of Anonymous Contribution, for the unsung and thankless service you have rendered unto Misplaced Pages, in your countless minor edits and bigger contributions over time. They have made a difference in our community and hopefully retelling this event to the barmen you encounter may bring forth the odd free beer to wrap in your hand. Thanks!--Alf 14:23, 3 April 2007 (UTC) and Bubba hotep 14:24, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
tears, smiles, waves to the audience as he walks down the podium, kisses losing IPs on the cheek. 156.34 is a team of bored librarians(and the occasional vandalising student...but we'll ignore them). On behalf of the "library crew"..we thank you for the token of Wiki-appreciation. 156.34.142.110 14:35, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Actually, this has more historical significance than appears on the surface. You see, this is probably the only Barnstar young Alfred has given out this year (something about losing the keys to the cabinet or something) so, as such, is rare indeed. Guard it with your life. ;) Bubba hotep 14:49, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

The Editor's Barnstar
So here is a barnstar for being my unofficial mentor and for giving me some great times on Misplaced Pages. It's also for cleaning up a lot of the junk that makes it onto here... Tally Ho! Take care, friend. Scarian 14:11, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

Re:

I've hacked at it... that Timeline section that I renamed to History needs a tag that says there isn't enough prose... I can't remember the coding for it. But anyway, I've gotten rid of most/all of the poorly written stuff. I haven't looked thoroughly through the timeline bit. I've removed all of the dead images and added a bunch of tags etc. See what you think. Scarian 15:54, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

Done. Found the tag{{prose}}. Cleaned up history section. Take a look at it and see what you think. Scarian 16:01, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

Who?

So what was the user's true identity?Navnløs 17:52, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

He was/is permanently banned User:SEGA. 156.34.142.110 17:56, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

Well The Elfoid made a mistake then. Navnløs 20:50, 13 November 2007 (UTC) btw that was some pretty funny crap on User:SEGA, thanks. Navnløs 20:51, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

Mesmerized

Remember when we AfD'd one of his articles before? People were being quite nasty about the article and I felt sorry for him. So I offered to help him write articles in the future . I suppose I should've stepped in when he was arguing with you about Arena Rock but... well... sleeping is far better than cooling down arguments :-D - I'll write him a message about what was happening and why it was happening. Hopefully it should be all A-Okay. Hooah! Scarian 13:55, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

You are the great mediator :-D. Mormons are big on "the great mediator" propaganda... if you are looking for a spiritual path... and looking for a freaked out, dead-end cult full of weirdos to clan up with... :D... there ya go!.. HA!HA!. 156.34.142.110 14:13, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
Hey! Any religion that allows males to have more than one wife can't be all that bad! - Btw, what can we do about that Arena Rock article? It's full of opinions and POV. Most of the refs are from the personal opinions of blog writers... Chock full o' crap, to be honest. Recommend cutting it down and exorcising it's POV-laden demons?! Scarian 14:27, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

I've already made the comment on the talkpage that the blog ref isn't an RS. Compare Mezzy's version to the pre-mezzy version. It's like I've said on the talk page... it went from bad to bad. I've been looking through periodicals and magazines for article on the subject. Surely Rolling Stone or Creem or NME or someone has done an article on the 70s Arena rock phenomenon? Those are the types of sources that stick. Mezzy has tried to create a number of fairytale genre pages. He falls in with editors like The Elfoid who are busy users... but their edits are fluff, superfluity and overkill rather than substance. Misplaced Pages doesn't improve by the number of articles it has... or the size/amount of text/images in each article. It is only as good as its reliable sources, quality of prose and its use of honest image contributions. I see so many people whining at Betacommand about his bot. I say let the bot run wild and force editors to double check their contributions... and police the uploads of others. Wiki is a haven for copyvio text and copyvio images. Its at the stage where all regular editors should step back and say... delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete, delete... do you see where I am coming from? If you think Arena rock is bad... look at Album-oriented rock. It's all POV fan favourite lists and radio station advertising and waves of original research. It's almost sad what gets added here. I have more respect for blatant vandals than I do for soapboxers, POV pushers and copyvio pasters. At least with the vandals... you know how to erase it. Crap adders and inclusionists are a lot harder to purge and, as Ive said a thousand times before... inclusionists are the scurge of all quality on Misplaced Pages. Plain and simple. 156.34.142.110 14:42, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Album orientated rock should be deleted. Would there be any support for that? And I find it ironic that the tag says: "This article may contain WP:OR..." - Ha. I'd put it up for AfD now but I have to go to the dentist and I don't know how much support it would get. What'd you think? Good enough for deletion? Scarian 14:49, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
It wouldn't fly. AOR is a valid radio format. It's just a bad article describing it. Strange isn't it??? Misplaced Pages has a bad article about something? :D . 156.34.142.110 14:59, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Warning

Be aware of 3RR on the Judas Priest page. Also, do no cause an edit war on the same page. Most editors have agreed that if there is much debate on a page that it should be left the way it was originally, and the Judas Priest article has had line breaks for the longest time until recently when someone kept changing it a couple times and I reverted their edits and you picked up after that person. Navnløs 23:03, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

You're giving him a warning about 3RR? Hypocrisy. You've broken 3RR yourself Navnlos and plus you're edit warring again. Scarian 23:40, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

"this is stalking" - That is utterly scary. I'm gonna check the Judas Priest article for how long it's been commas and then I'm going to point out to undertow about his contributions aswell... This whole thing is rather disconcerting ('Scuse the rhyme, sublime!) Scarian 09:38, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Talk page trolling annoys the hell out of me. I can AGF for some things. But personal agendas and policy shading is the yellow line in the snow. 156.34.142.110 14:30, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I think it looks fine. Do you reckon it's ready almost? Scarian 19:13, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Done! It's on the page. Fingers crossed. Are you sure you didn't want your I.P. address on the 'Submitted by...' section? You did most of the work on it, if not all! Scarian 19:33, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Aww... I'll be an I.P. like you one day hopefully... I just gotta find a static ISP... and then we can both be unappreciated! Yay! Have a good day, friend. Good work today :-) Scarian 19:41, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Ugh... bed time! Have a great weekend whatever you get up to. Thanks for tuckering me out today :-D Take care of yourself. Scarian 23:53, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Fun

Oh, it would have to all kick off when you're not around, eh? :-D Got warned for being uncivil to Navnlos. I wasn't exactly being naughty but nevermind. He will walk into a block one of these days... He thinks I'm "out to get him". Ha, "turn down the suck"... irony. Scarian 01:23, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

Just to let you know

I was indeed not stalking twsx! See my explanation of the events here: User talk:Navnløs#.... Navnløs (talk) 01:33, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

Planes, trains and automobiles

Played the plane game. I kept swearing at the screen because of that ridiculous fan. I managed to get 35.8m in the end but I closed the window because, well, you're right... it's more addictive that heroin (I would assume). Anyway, I received an e-mail from Cav last night telling me that he didn't mean the warning 100%. It was just so the other guy didn't feel left out :-D (Although, I have a sneaking suspicion reverse psychology was used). But anyway, we've all got to be careful to remain "...very perspicacious" as we want to "...end up pissing people off". Haha, nice conversation you had yesterday :-D have a nice Sunday! Scarian 11:43, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

Okay I managed to get 64m this time which puts me in the 31000's! No more, please! It's frustrating :-D - Have a nice time at Church! I don't have Church for another 6 hours. Thank God Catholic's have mass at 6pm for the late birds :-D Scarian 12:21, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

User talk:216.21.150.44

That guy is a musician and I'm trying to find out who he plays for, but I have to do it very subtley. My attempts so far have completely failed. He contributed to Scipo's demise btw if you check his edit history. Maybe he plays for the Wolfe Tones? Or maybe he's one of yours? :-D Have a good day. Scarian 09:36, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

I've seen that IP before. Doesn't like spam links too much. Seems to be his main beef. Every now and then I get the "I'm being followed" feeling when I edit here. Many editors pick up on my edit summary style and abbreviations and start to use them as their own. It's usually logged editors. I won't pick off any names. You can probably spot them yourself. But IPs do it too. Anyone who's a regular editor of rock music related articles knows who I am. And if they don't... they're awfully slow. :D . 216 edits a lot of music pages and he's had a few battle scars too. :D . I am betting he's a guitar player... he has a few of those in his history. I doubt your IP plays for Wolf Tones... Geobytes places your new friend in Vancouver BC. That's out on the opposite coast from where I am... about 5000 kms away. Here on the east coast of Canada we have little/no use for "west coasters" because they're just a useless bunch of stoned out hippies and ski-bums. I'll hold off that judgement for this editor. He may be a stoned out hippie snowboarder... but he isn't useless as far as Wiki goes :D. He's an on again off again type. Maybe if we offered up a barnstar of friendship he might help out more often? He should, at least, be introduced to all the cool people on here... like Alf and Funeral. BTW... what happened to Kelpin? He seemed like a good team player and then he vanished? 156.34.142.110 (talk) 16:32, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

I love being able to Wiki-stalk :-D

He needs to be told what Misplaced Pages is. He really needs to learn to leave his opinions outside of the site. It's plain and utter defamation. I have an intense disliking for that sort of thing. Especially on an encyclopaedia! Scarian 21:49, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

I'm actually thinking about filing an WP:RfC about him, would you recommend that? Scarian 22:01, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

AC/DC

I did what you asked me to do. Which has, in turn, led to a lengthy discussion with "the Elfoid" about the band's genre on the article's talk page. I would appreciate any input from you because... well I'll be honest... I have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about :-D - Hope your trip was nice! Scarian 09:34, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

User:Deathbringer from the Sky... revisited

This user has been active again, I'm now convinced it's Navlos using a sock. Deathbringer from the Sky mostly edits when his other account is blocked for edit warring. This is such a Navlos-esque edit summary Funeral 23:45, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

Take a look: User:Scarian/Sandbox - I added a bunch of diffs trying to link them in etc. Scarian 10:13, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
I'm gonna reply here just in case you change comps or your I.P. address disappears.
I must confess that I talked Elfoid out of an argument with you. He made a half personal attack towards you which I had to step in and say something about what he wrote . I might contact him about giving guidance but he's been here longer than I have!
It might be difficult proving a similarity between the two (See my comments on Funeral's talk page). But yeah I think we can do it. It would end this whole edit war crap once and for all (Until he changed his ISP). Oh yeah, the commentaries :-D - I was only leaving them in so we (Or whomever puts in for the RFCU) know which is which...
Anyway, I've messaged Mr.Tiger Shark about whether they're good enough so far... so hopefully we'll find out later tonight. Have a great day, Libs! Scarian 11:52, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

I saw the comments you left about me on that other guy's page

If I am "notorious", why do I not get given complaints about how to improve my writing often? Other than recent stuff on the Michael Jackson page about Slash, which I agree needs editing and finishing off in a tidier fashion (as has been discussed on the talk page), the only other example I can think of would be the fact that when I put up a band's line-up page I tend to list a discography as part of it (see ]). Which is using the table format as a useful way of presenting information - not just re-iterating it.

The one other time I can think I over-stated information is Heaven and Hell (band). But again, that's not me just thinking writing things is good, it's because I felt a summary of the information about the band was useful, given how much selective reading of the Black Sabbath and Dio pages was required (with the Dio page being in quite shabby shape to the point where I'm scared to attempt sorting it out since I can't work out where to start). You made it seem like I don't even think about any kind of expansive behaviour I show on articles...I do. I'm totally aware of it. I just sometimes think it's useful, even if re-stating information tends not to be.

In general the way you hope I will 'learn in time' and all that felt somewhat patronizing. I have had to fight for my right to get recognised for my maturity despite my age (hence my offence at your suggestion I had to prove my legitimacy as an editor due to my age). There might be plenty for me to learn, but that's not through lack of maturity. It's for complicated reasons you'd not begin to understand...which would involve delving into my personal life which I doubt you are terribly interested in anyway. To put it simply, I'm a messed up thinker who's trying to deal with a slightly messed up head. For any problems it causes, it also means I'm very effective at de-POVing something and being very analytical. Hence my desire to present data on band line-ups in quite a bit of detail - how it is presented can be very useful in looking at it.

Have you seen the state Van Halen was in when I began working on it and the state it is in now? And right in the middle of the clean-up, which was hard enough work, the band's first tour with David Lee Roth in 23 years started. Making a Van Halen page seem POV-free is about as hard as any task gets. I'd say the vast majority of the work done to the page since I began work on it has been mine, and it's a fine example of what an editor I have matured into.

I'm sure you don't care about all that. I just don't feel I was being treated like a human being at all and one of my character flaws is a stupid level of stubborn-ness. And having had trouble with being picked on all my life, whenever I can, I at least TRY to stand up for myself. And more than that, I wanted to say all this so that...I can improve. If I'm notorious for my behaviour, tell me all the stuff I've done so wrong. Spell it out. Make it clear. If some kind of comment about me isn't made totally obvious to me, I tend not to realise it. Give me examples, several, of my mistakes. And I'll see if I can improve. That's in everyone's best interests right?

Just look over the Van Halen stuff, and also provide me with examples of my mistakes. It'd mean a lot to me. (The Elfoid (talk) 22:45, 23 November 2007 (UTC))

Funny

Surely I am not the only one on the planet who finds that hilarious? Scarian 21:17, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

Danke!

Thank you very much for the barney! So you saw me AfD those two articles then? :-D - Scarian 18:12, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

yup.... look at my {db} edit history for today... all valid speedy d's and all were put off. Frustrating. They keep saying take it to AfD... but as a staunch anon... I can't create an AfD. Discrimination of you ask me. :D 156.34.142.110 (talk) 18:16, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
Well I for one was not opposed to re-instating the 'anons can create pages' facility that was eventually reversed before re-introducing, though I can understand the reasoning for doing so.--Alf 18:34, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Bestial Warlust - Check out the creator in the history... oh and don't forget to read a paragraph or two... oh and another thing... look for notability . :-D Scarian 22:47, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Yeah that looks AfD... to me anyways. 156.34.142.110 (talk) 14:18, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
Bad news... the article was listed for AfD before and the result was Keep. It clearly fails all the critereon for WP:MUSIC. Bah, I'll list it again as its second AfD. Scarian 14:51, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
: I don't know if I should actually... would seem a pretty bad idea to me... Scarian 14:56, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

Did the original AfD request improvement?... Was there any "I'll AGF that it gets better" types of comments? 156.34.142.110 (talk) 15:01, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

See for yourself: Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Bestial Warlust. No call for improvement whatsoever... no one even mentioned the disturbing amount of POV and weasel words in there. Scarian 15:08, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
2 biased keep votes and 1 tie breaker. The tie breaker 'keep' is from a legit editor (not like the other 2 who don't play by Wiki rules very well) Since no improvement has ever been attempted and no cited notabilty ever added... I would say it could go for another AfD. Maybe ask the help desk for an opinion? Ask Funeral, Kelpin and Skeeker what they think. If they had known about an AfD before they might have voted on it. I'd ask the original nominator if he would support a second nom. 156.34.142.110 (talk) 15:20, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
