It is arguably the most cited & memorable role in India film history. His dialogue "Tera Kya hoga re Kalia?" ("What will happen to you, Kalia?") and "Jo dar gaya samjho mar gaya" are considered two of the most famous lines of any Indian movie, often quoted by young Hindi speakers to make light of potentially serious situations of resembling to Russian roulette.

Remakes and differences in Sholay and Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag
Gabbar became Babban in Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag. Gabbar broke Thakur's hand with sword and Babban broke Narasima's hands with some axe.Gabbar's brother is never mentioned and Babban's brother is mentioned at Narasima's flashback.Gabbar is a dacoit and Babban is a gangster.After "Mehbooba" song , Gabbar took the money from the gun but suddenly the shot of the gun came and Babban took the money from the gun after that they went to the rotten house and then Raj came with flames and smashed Babban.
