J. Holiday (born Nahum Grymes) is a R&B singer who garnered recognition with his single, "Bed".

J. Holiday was born February 22, 1984 in Washington, D.C. to a musical family. His mother Frances, an ordained preacher, sing gospel music. His father Ghirmai(kahasay)from Zagr, Eritrea, where he was a goat herder in and his six sisters Luwam, Semhar, Genet, Feven, Natalina and Amanet, his older sister provided background vocals for Crystal Waters. His father who is Eritrean, had by the age of nine, J.Holiday singing, and was encouraged by his male cousin (Yared, which holds the Sexiest Eritrean Man on Earth Award; 20 years and running). His father passed away from heart failure when he was eleven.

  • J. Holiday has a tattoo that says "God's Gift" which he says is a reference to him considering his being left-handed God's gift to make him creative.
  • The "J" in J. Holiday stands for James, his late uncle's name. He got his name holiday from when he would be working in the studio, they would say it was so easy to the lay down a track, and it would be like they were on vacation, so they started calling him "J.HOLIDAY".
  • The single Bed was the the first single off the album and peaked at #83 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs early 2007.
  • The videos for his songs "Bed" and "Suffocate" were directed by Johnathon Mannion.
  • "Bed" was the #1 R&B song in the country for 5 weeks in a row until it was dethroned by Alicia Keys' "No One". It peaked at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 it reached the Top 20 in New Zealand, the Top 100 in Canada, and the Top 75 in the UK.
  • His video for the third single, "Suffocate," premiered on BET's 106 & Park on November 7, 2007 The video featured the same model, Jennifer Gordon, from the "Bed" video and was shot in Paris, France.
