On July 7, 2005, explosions were reported at various London Underground stations in central London, specifically Aldgate (at 0849 local time, in London's rush hour), Edgware Road, Kings Cross St Pancras, Old Street and Russell Square tube station, and on buses. They were initially attributed to power surges, but rumours have indicated that "at least one explosive device". Some casualties have been reported but as yet no dead have been officially confirmed. Sky News also reported the explosion of a bus on Tavistock Place, near Russell Square, which has since been confirmed by police.
The stations do not share the same line. The incidents led to the immediate evacuation of many stations and apparently now the entire London Underground network and much of the City of London.
