Angel Locsín (born Angélica Locsín Colmenares on April 23, 1985), is the Most Famous Young Actress, Commercial model, Film producer, Fashion designer, and Product Endorser in the Philippines.She was a GMA Network talent before and now She is an exclusive Star of ABS-CBN. She first starred in Mulawin as Alwina with Richard Gutierrez,as her Love enterest.In 2005, She was chosen to role Mars Ravelo's Darna,then her Popularity rose up and directly became a Big Star in the Philippines. She also starred the very wonderful Fantasy TV Series in GMA Network's Majika,with Dennis Trillo, who was also her Loveteam in Darna. She really shines People starts to admire her and became a well-known Actress in the whole Philippines. Indeed, According to many sources ,She is the Sexiest, the Most Beautiful, the Most Famous, and the Most admired Young Actress in this generation. She also became an Action Star in Asian Treasures, a 2007 Action-Adventure Show with Robin Padilla,where She gave her extra-ordinary performance as an Actress. Many People amazed in her very unique style in such very beautiful Shows in TeleVision.She is the Real Queen of Soap Opera. However She had a very blooming career in GMA Network before, but She transffered to ABS-CBN where currently She work. She also took a short course for fashion design in London. She was supposed to be the Philippines Marimar but the GMA Network didn't offered to her the role. She will now launch her first ever Show in ABS-CBN,Its Lobo,The Most Ambitius Project that will premier this January 21 2008. She had got the lead role with Piolo Pascual as her Loveteam. Early as now She is hailed as the Premier Princess of ABS-CBN. She has a Millions of supporters and fan all over the Philippines, Luckily Abdulnasif Dimaporo proved that He is the Number 1 fan of Angel. A number of Angel fans wants her to be paired to Zac Efron. Because of her Success She is now called as the Young Famous Superstar.

Life and career

Angel Locsín was born on April 23 1985 in Bulacan , Philippines where she also grew up. She is the second of three children. Her parents separated when she was fourteen, and she has since lived with her father.Her career in show business began after she was discovered by a talent scout while she cut classes with a friend and was shopping at SM City North EDSA in Quezon City. She auditioned for several commercials. She was supposed to be part of the Batch 9 of ABS-CBN's Star Circle Batch 9,now Star Magic but she failed to sign a contract with ABS-CBN's Talent Center because her father, Angelo Colmenares, did not agree. After a year, she became a contract star of GMA Network.

She first appeared in Click, a teen-oriented program on the GMA Network, as Charley (short for Charlotte), where she was first paired with Brian Revilla, then eventually to Railey Valeroso. She became widely known when she first appeared on the cover of FHM (Philippine edition). The same magazine consistently lists her as one of the "100 Sexiest Women in the World",In 2005 She was Voted as the Sexiest Woman in the Philippines through FHM ranking next to Angelina Jolie.In 2006 She ranked next to Katrina Halili and Scarlet Johansson. In 2007 She ranked next to Katrina Halili and Keira Knightley. In 2006 and 2007 She's voted as the Most Beautiful Woman in the Philippines through Starmometer ranking in the spot.

In 2003, her boyfriend, actor Miko Sotto, fell off from the 9th floor of his condominium in December 2003. Afterwards, her boyfriend's mother, movie actress and ABC newscaster Ali Sotto, donated his eyes to those in need. Angel eventually portrayed the dramatization of the life of one of these recipients in the TV drama show Magpakailanman. After She appeared in Click, She gained further exposure when she was cast in the television shows Ang Iibigin Ay Ikaw Pa Rin, All Together Now, and Love to Love. Suddenly in 2004, She got the lead role as Alwina , the half-human, half-avian in Mulawin with Richard Gutierrezas Aguiluz. She auditioned for the title role in Darna and won the role. Her popularity rose up when She got this role.She started to Endorse popular products and Business Establishments in the Philippine.She got a Rating of 53.5, The Highest Rating in the Philipppine Television. She also voiced the character of Kyoko Iwase in the Philippine Tagalog version of Initial D aired in Animax.

After Darna (TV Series), She reunited with former love team Dennis Trillo as they top-billed GMA Network's Fantasy series, Majika,The Most Wonderful Fantasy Series in the Philippines. After this project, Angel was the lead role with Robin Padilla in adventure-themed series Asian Treasures,which is the Most Expensive TV Series in the Philippines,which was shot in several countries iin Asia such as Thailand , Mongolia and China . This was her last project with GMA Network before she left and took a fashion design course in London. She is the real Queen of Primetime in the Philippines.

She also starred in films. Among her big screen credits are Kuya, Mano Po 2, Singles, Sigaw and the 2005 and 2006 Box-office hit Let The Love Begin and I Will always love you where she worked with on-screen partner Richard Gutierrez. Her team-up with Richard Gutierrez is considered as one of the best pairings in the country. She also reprised her role as Alwina in Mulawin The Movie.She reunited with Richard Gutierrez for the movie The Promise which was co-produced by Regal Films and GMA Films. Their roles were considered more mature than any they have done in the past, and the movie showed a bed scene between the two characters.This January 2008 She and Piolo Pascual will go to Hawaii to shoot their first ever Movie together entitled , I Knew I Love You. This Movie is expected to be the Highest Grossing Film in the Philippines.

Angel also co-hosted along with Mariel Rodriguez and Valerie Concepcion in the noontime show Wowowee primarily hosted by the controversial Willie Revillame. She joined the Wowowee production and gave tribute to the military men who fought the rebels in Basilan. Her appearance in Wowowee last September 1, 2007 boosted the ratings of the show. She also received excellent reviews and She gave the Best Actress Performance in Maalaala Mo Kaya episode entitled "Pilat" which paired her with heartthrob Sam Milby. Now that She's in ABS-CBN, her acting abilities is improving.

She is the Hottest Endorser of Avon Philippines include Avon Glazewear Lipstick and Avon wish of Happiness perfume. Avon got there highest sales in the Philippines when they've got Angel ,as their endorser. She is the Most Effective Endorser in the Philippines. She Also Endorses her own Clothing Line, Angel Active. Which was first opened in SM Taytay. Angel Active Available in Selected SM Outlets. She also actively participates in conceptualizing designs for the clothing line.

Angel will launch her first Soap in ABS-CBN entitled Lobo She starred with Piolo Pascual as her Loveteam. This will be directed by the Box Office Director Ms. Cathy Garcia-Molina.This will be premier in January 21 2008.

Controversies

She had her fair share of controversy after appearing in a TV ad for Axe (manufactured by Unilever Philippines). Many feminist groups, as well as former Senator Nikki Coseteng, complained about the offensive gestures in the advertisement. In the television commercial, Angel is teasing a man by showing off money and her body, but the man approaches Angel and takes only her money. Because of these complaints, Unilever pulled out the commercial.

On July 20, 2007, Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 81 Presiding Judge Ma. Theresa Yadao dismissed Locsin's petition for reformation of instrument and/or rescission/breach of contract and damages filed against Rebecca "Becky" Aguila after granting her motion to dismiss, based on settlement of their differences. Locsin sued her manager on December 6 where she asked the court to order the reformation of the terms of the Artist Management Contract which she had signed, to reflect the true intention of the parties.

Locsin's five-year contract with GMA expired in mid-2007. Her manager, Becky Aguila, and her father, Angel Colmenares, sent a letter, formally informing GMA that her talent would not renew her contract with the Kapuso network. In August 2007, she transferred to ABS-CBN Network, the rival TV station of GMA. She told in an interview with Boy Abunda that she is no longer happy with GMA Network and she is looking forward to having a better career in ABS-CBN. With her statement, GMA were disappointed. Even accusing her of being ingrate because of her ungrateful actions, because GMA Network has made her a Young Famous Superstar in a short period of time. Although on the same note, Angel did her part while she was in GMA Network, she made blockbuster movies and top rating TV series, which made advertisers invest more at the time to GMA Network. She worked round the clock all year round from the day she became a star and was left with little time to rest that even brought her to hospitals due to exhaustion. She also had little or almost no quality time with her family, most specially with her blind father. Angel fully supports her family and is the bread winner.

Moreover, Locsin had an alleged video sex scandal. The video was being sold in a pirated DVD. After a while, they figured out that the woman in the video was a pornstar from Thailand "Natt Chanapa" who looked just like her.
