In a political sense, the term Afghān refers to the citizens of Afghanistan. While ethnologically the Pashtun people are referred to as Pashtuns, Pushtuns, Pakhtuns or Pathans , nonetheless, Persian-speakers use the term Afghān to designate the Pashtun people. Additionally, Pashto, the language of the Pashtuns, is also known as Afghān language.
