He currently plays for Arsenal.
Bentley is a former captain of the England under-18 team, and is a current under-21 international. A forward, he was handed his debut for Arsenal in January 2003, coming on as a substitute for Kolo Touré in the 77th minute of a 2-0 FA Cup Third Round win over Oxford United.
He prefers to play deep and has been compared to Dennis Bergkamp, especially after having scored his first goal for Arsenal, an audacious lob in a Carling Cup match 4-1 win over Middlesbrough F.C. in January 2004. Bentley spent the whole of the 2004-05 season on loan to Norwich City, playing 26 games and scoring 2 goals. He returned to Arsenal in the summer of 2005.
