Hey there! I'm xDanielx (talk contribs count logs page moves block log email), a student from California and an admin on the English Misplaced Pages. I'll be facing some tight academic pressure until June, so I'll have a lot going on in the coming months, but feel free to drop me a line if you need something — I'm never too busy to check my talk page now and then.

This end the usual RFA thanks spam. You may return to your regular editing now.

Y2K image

As you suggested, my major reason for removing it was that it wouldn't display, and, as you also point out, the problem was a missing [. I'm pretty neutral about restoring it. It doesn't add information, but, at the same time, I'm not adamant that Misplaced Pages be dull, and have been zinged a few times for writing with a flair. If you restored it, I would not object.

It happened I was the network architecture consultant for the US government Y2K center, and we had an "official unofficial graffito" you'd find on bulletin boards: "The Dark Ages were caused by the Y1K Problem", occasionally accompanied by a cartoon of a rather villainous looking Viking. Sometimes, the Viking would be reading from a piece of paper, "Slaughter sheep, ravish women, take loot, burn houses. Order important."

Calton's hatred of MyWikiBiz

Re: Suicide

Just a short reply to your comment on El C's page, as I didn't want to keep posting to it and bothering him. I reacted to the post by BETA, in that, I thought it was very wrong to list reasons why the person was hoaxing and that BETA could not possibly be knowledgeable about suicide and how to deal with those who use Misplaced Pages to post those thoughts, whether they are hoaxes or not. I agree with you that more discussion needs to happen, but I don't know where to start. My responses here and there were quick, and lacked detail for brevity reasons, and by no means are my only thoughts on the matter. But, I don't know if I want to get into something like that, but I'm up to help here and there if needed. I did change/add a couple of things to the essay.

Misplaced Pages cannot and should not be a substitute for medical advice. I think you know that, and maybe it's somewhere in another essay saying as much. The suicide essay needs a lot of work. If anything, it needs to be shortened and more concise. Oh lol, I was trying to keep this short, but the more I try to explain, the more words come into my head. I just didn't want you to think I was ignoring you. It's a very complicated issue, one which everyone has their own opinion. But, saying someone is lying is going a bit too far, in my opinion. That was why I posted in reaction to BETA's analysis in the first place. Sheesh, I'm getting myself deeper and deeper here. It's a complicated issue and very hard to deal with over the internet, so I'll just end with that. :) Cheers. ←GeeAlice 05:26, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
