Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Shortcuts
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.
Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level Request unprotection Request a specific edit to a protected page Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here Request edit |

- comment Did you attempt mediation or any form of dispute resolution first? Wisdom89 (T / ) 14:49, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
- I have sort of come in to this as a 3rd party. I saw one post on AIV regarding the blocking of the other "edit warring" user. I warned each user about potential violation of 3RR, and posted here in an attempt to cool the tempers over it. ~~ 14:51, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Semi protection anon users continue to add hoax information to this article after the semi-protection expired two days ago -Danngarcia (talk) 13:28, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
- Comment As only a third party, examination of the history does reflect this activity. I would endorse a semi-protection. Wisdom89 (T / ) 17:10, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
DZOZ-TV (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi protection an anon user adds hoax information to this article similar to the edits of the Associated Broadcasting Company article -Danngarcia (talk) 13:28, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
- comment Might be more appropriate to warn/attempt to talk to the anon first, and then report protracted abuse to WP:AIV. Wisdom89 (T / ) 15:06, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
- Comment Actually there are at least 2 or 3 anon users that vandalizes this page in the same manner as the ABC article. -Danngarcia (talk) 18:46, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
- Comment Checking the history, it appears that you are correct. You had specified a single anon user though. I also would agree that this page should be temporary semi-protected as a deterrent. Waiting for admins. Wisdom89 (T / ) 19:01, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Current requests for unprotection
ShortcutsBefore posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for significant edits to a protected page
ShortcutIdeally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

temporary semi-protection : The article is on spotlight due to the big fire incident yesterday. Silly edit warring on using images or "tense". Other language wikipedia also endorse semi-protection. Maybe one weeks semi-protection is needed.--Appletrees (talk) 10:00, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Quaker history (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
This article was given semi-protection last November to deal with anonymous vandalism that was taking place at the time. It seems that 3 months is more than enough cooling-off time, and since it was never discussed on the article's talk page I think it would be appropriate to remove the protection at this point. --Ahc (talk) 00:00, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
- Unprotected It's been protected for long enough. Hopefully things have calmed down since then. - auburnpilot talk 00:37, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
Mount Vesuvius (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protect Article has been hit heavily by vandals in the 7x.xx.xx.xx range. Editors have been reverting them, but this has got to stop. Additionally, there is an unconfirmed possible revert war before the vandal(s) hit, but that is, once again, unconfirmed. The main reason for semi-protection is because of the vandals, who blanked sections of the page. Sandy of the CSARs (talk) 03:14, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

KNOM (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Indefinite full protection This article has been the target of frequent deletions and re-insertions of a comment that pertains to a matter currently before the courts. The (currently deleted) comment includes the name of an individual which has been noted in past press accounts of the proceeding and is, therefore, an apparently fair usage. However inclusion in this article has caused concern to members of the person's family. This comment has also been brought to my attention as a factor inhibiting at least two other potential complainants from exercising their rights. Please consider protecting this article without the comment until the court proceedings are resolved VelvetDixie (talk) 03:03, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Rachel Carson (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
semi-protect - Frequent IP vandalism, of the past 50 edits (since January 25), approx. 35 were IP vandalism (or in some cases possibly tests), of the remainder at least 10 were reverts of vandalism or tests, only one constructive edit (addition of a single word) and one incorrect copyedit were made by IPs during that period. The only content dispute during that period was with a registered account, which accounts for a total of two of the fifty edits considered (the edit and one reversion).--Doug. 02:41, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

semi-protect or full protect long enough to get people to talk things out on the discussion page (2 weeks?). A few anonymous IP's and some actual users are in a fight over what the genre should be on the page. An attempt to get them to argue it out on the talk page and come to some consensus has been unsuccessful and it has created a ridiculous revert war since late January, with the genres listed going back and forth 3-6 times a day.--Velvet elvis81 (talk) 22:05, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
