Pompeo D'Ambrosio was born in San Marco Evangelista (near Salerno, Italy) on January 1, 1917 and died in Caracas (Venezuela) on April 15, 1998.

He was very renowned in the Italian community of Caracas and was very active - with his financial activity in one of the main venezuelan banks (Banco Latino) - for the promotion of many success stories of Italian entrepeneurs in Venezuela.

He was even financial manager of the Deportivo Italia, the soccer club of the Italians of Venezuela, during the best "golden" years (in the sixties and seventies) of this team. Those years, when he ruled the team with his brother Mino, are remembered as the D'Ambrosio Era.

Life

In the thirties Pompeo D'Ambrosio studied "Administration of Italian Colonies" in the University of Napoli.

During WWII he was Lieutenant of the Italian Army in North Africa (Libya and Egypt), where was wounded and made POW in the Battle of El Alamein receiving a military Medal of Honor.

When Pompeo D'Ambrosio returned to Italy from an Allied concentration Camp in Egypt, in 1946 he founded in Salerno the local section of the Movimiento Social Italiano, a national-conservative Italian Party actually named Alleanza Nazionale.
