Guns n' Roses is an American metal band that originated in Los Angeles in 1985. The original line-up consisted of:

Axl Rose- Vocals Tracii Guns- Lead Guitar Izzy Stradlin- Rhytmn guitar Duff Mckagan- Bass Rob Gardner-Drums

However, Guns and Gardner left the band just before the start of the band's first tour. They were quickly replaced by a young, half African American guitarist, from England, named Slash, and a young, blond Californian drummer named Steven Adler. The new, more known lineup looked like this:

Axl Rose - vocals Slash - lead guitar Izzy Stradlin - rhythm guitar Duff McKagan - bass Steve Adler - drums

In June of 1985, the band set off on it's first tour, called The Hell Tour, but it wasn't a success. They had a home in Los Angeles, called The Hell House, which they met at after the tour. They played in many clubs, such as the famous Whiskey club, and gained notoriety.

In 1986, the released their first album, Live $@*^* Like a Suicide, on their independant Uzi Suicide label. The 10,000 copies were quickly sold. The next year, they released their first full album, called Appetite for Destruction, which quickly climbed the charts.
