He has won the US Open, the American Open, Corus B, and the National Open. In times past he was the coach of the US junior national chess team. He is the author of more than thirty-five books. He has given lessons to many top players of the game; his former students including American Grandmaster Jesse Krai and Italian chess prodigy Fabiano Curuana.
