Population 698 (2001). The current president (known in the west as "mayor") is Parzinas Athanasios. Its main products are beans, corn, and wheat. The notoriety of its beans is so great that there is an annual bean festival on August 15th, coinciding with the holiday honoring the Virgin Mary.
Prior to the Hellenization of this area in 1926, the village was known under its Slavic toponym "Mokreni" (Macedonian and Bulgarian: Мокрени; Greek: Μόκρενη).
