Portal:Slovakia
Hi Mark, do you know by any chance how to change selected articles in Portal:Slovakia? We now have one featured and three good articles and I think it would be better to present them there than Grassalkovich Palace and Moric Benovsky. Unfortunately, I do not know how to edit a portal. Tankred (talk) 15:33, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot. I have updated the featured article (per your request not to Bratislava, but to Gerlachovsky stit) and the list of recent DYKs. Tankred (talk) 03:08, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks. It's at least a minor praise for my work. I've thought that I'm slowly a sort of "no one" here. MarkBA 21:11, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
Košice
I think you have done a lot of good work on Košice. The article looks much better than it used to. But there is still much to do before the article can be submitted for a GA review. My two cents: The list of sacral buildings should be rewritten in prose and integrated in the main Sights section. Some of the sub-sections in Culture are far too stubby. The Education section can be expanded following the example of Banska Bystrica. I will try to add some information into the Politics section. Cheers. Tankred (talk) 03:35, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- Good job! Tankred (talk) 03:46, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
Ahoj MarkBA,
I think there are some important thing in Kassa's history which they are not in this article.
There was the first Hungarian peridocal called Magyar Museum in the whole uhorsko in the 18th century. This city was the most important center of the Hungarian culture and the Hunngarian language innovation movement.
Besides the Czechoslovak Legions killed Hungarian and German people on 15 March 1919 because they protested against of the Czechoslovak occupation.
On top of there is in the article:East Slovak Ironworks caused population the city were built. and the construction and expansion of the East Slovak Ironworks caused population growth from population of 60,700 in 1950 to 235,000 in 1991 and in the end it was the fifth largest city in Czechoslovakia. In fact the East Slovak Ironworks was built because the Czechoslovak government wanted to change the
proportion of the ethnic groups in the city.why isn't it in this objective article?
--Famous people--
Can you tell me why were so few Hungarian famous people born live and death in this city over the past 1000 years? Although its true there are some unknown Slovak sportsman and artist but it isn't probably that they are inhabitants.

Ahoj Mark from Pozsony,
You believe me I did not want to write you today because this website does not so social website as the facebook or the myspace or the iwiw.hu. But what you did on the famous people of the Kassa page (English wikipedia) was very usefull. I know a lot of famous people of Kassa and Pozsony but I can not write English so well as you. However You can not read the Hungarian sources and it would be important if you would like to write good articles from the cities of the historical Hungary. And it is probably that you never heard about these famous people before in Slovakia. You wrote :Please try to include links to created articles next time. The most important link is the Kassa article in the Hungarian wikipedia. Could you read it? Cheers Dovidenia Nmate
- What I meant in the edit summary has already been pointed out - try to create articles to avoid red links like this. Yes, do not try to give long descriptions, I've copy-edited that twice. For sources, one of the basic principles is to adhere to WP:NPOV. And just a point: it would be a sign of respect if you could address me with modern names of cities, just as I don't use my own anachronisms. MarkBA 19:14, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
Hi MarkBa,
I read about history of kosice(kassa) in this article and I think that few thing happened in kosice(kassa) from 1300 to 1918. It is so as somebody would be copied this history in it from a Slovak guidebook. It is on deail that what built there. I can translate these things from Hungarian but I can not write English so well as you or Tankred and it is important that the new informations that join to the article.

- Hi there. I´m replying from an IP this time because I´m away - if yeh think it´s important to understand the history of the city, well, go ahead while keeping a balance and try to give sufficient and as much as possible neutral sourcing and someone will do a copyedit sooner or later. 85.242.255.31 (talk) 14:44, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
can I send you something?
Hey Mark, if you give me some address in your country where I can reach you (you could give me a school address or something, does not have to be yours) I can send you a copy of a study by Katarina Vanekova called "Nation Formation in Education: The Case of the Czech and Slovak Republics". - 1. Can I know why are you making such offer, i.e., what is the reason? 2. Regardless of intentions, we
neverdon't give out personal data like (post) addresses, whether real or fictional. MarkBA 10:19, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
- And by the way, I don't know what is that exactly about. You may consider it silly, but I need to know if it has some value for me. MarkBA 17:39, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
Hungarian nationalism
Dear MarkBA,
You are here fortunately, so the English Misplaced Pages content has been protected from Hungarian nationalist. But its true that all cities and villages native name are Hungarian in the Slovakia. There is a Hungarian joke that whole Slovakia's only history is possible to send in a short mobile phone's text message.
All the best from mad'arsko.

- Now what is this supposed to mean? To tell something useful or just to "embarrass" me? MarkBA 17:13, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
Dear MarkBA,
Sorry, I didn't want to go mad You and I do not think that You would be my slave. But I think what You think about of historical Hungary It is perjudiced and anachronistic. Maybe because you are a slovak man and you were born in Slovakia. It is true that you have been worked a lot in the wikipedia articles and you can write and speak English very well. But for example that was not good after I had written to the Charpatian German's discussion page and You erased It. Otherwise I do not want to trouble You (without occasion). All the best from mad'arsko.Nmate
- Fine, but what are you trying to prove me now? Actions like this don't go unnoticed... MarkBA 16:55, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
Your recent edits
If I remember correctly you were there on the Pozsony county talk page when consensus was made in this question and you participated in the discussion where it was shown that the name you try to push now is basicly only used on Svetovid's sandbox. I will not revert you any more but I'm sad to see you make such actions repeatedly. Hobartimus (talk) 15:19, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- What are you talking about? Never mind that I don't needlessly provoke and this was a damned, yes, only a damned portion from what have you done. Besides, be glad that I'm not using "incorrect" name at least. For my God please start respecting non-Hungarian opinions, then I maybe can talk normally to both of you and I haven't seen that yet (merciless reverts are good illustration). A good example is the article on Hedviga Malinová case (or Hedvig Malina if you wish), reverting any improvements, and by the way, it's not correct now. If you're sad about my much more rare engages in this, then believe I'm VERY sad, even disheartened what are you doing now, and often abusing your advantage in numbers, still pretending to be the regional kings. And finally: for normal edits I'm attacked because... (blah, blah, blah). Do you think it's fair, normal? MarkBA 21:27, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- What am I talking about? I'm talking about this one issue the naming of a county. This was debated before and in that debate Mike Gogulski a Slovak editor wrote "Even the Slovak sources I've seen use the Hungarian name for the county. — Mike Gogulski 23:22, 6 July 2007 (UTC)" The debate was about EXACTLY the same issue that recently came up between us after your edit the question if Pressburg county or Pozsony county should be used. I came here on this issue and there is absolutely no need to throw around insults like "still pretending to be the regional kings". Hobartimus (talk) 03:19, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- Whether one or other is used, that doesn't make a big difference, but, I think Pressburg or better yet, Posonium is a more neutral name between our POVs. Sorry, but I think it's a waste of time, chewing fat about one edit. I don't like to go into issues like this, but when I feel it's needed, then I'll do. So, is there anything else to discuss? And yes, my previous words are still correct. MarkBA 06:45, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- I just wanted you to understand that my edit was suppported by a number of things including "Slovak sources" according to Gogulski, as well as consensus and there was no reason to call that edit disruptive in an angry edit summary or to make general attacks above. This is not a POV issue at all, multiple policies guidelines regulate issues such as this already, but as I said discussion on this is over, just wanted to explain that my edit was well supported so maybe you view it in a different light and not so negatively as to warrant angry responses. Hviezdoslavovo namestie
Hi MarkBA!I found the article about this square on wikipedia and I have source about squares and streets history of this city in old style Hungarian language. My source contents 25 pages about history of this square and the theater which is on the square .I began to transnlate It but will You check It in English.(of course if You have free time)'Cheers Dovidenia Nmate —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.209.242.181 (talk) 09:54, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
- As you wish, but please don't forget to cite it, as without this someone will tag it as uncited or remove it altogether. Also, much of the problems are caused by your poor command of English, a fact which you even admit, but bear in mind that if this is continuous, people will lose their patience and usually will send you elsewhere. Yes, I do know you have an account on hu.wiki, (contribs), so it's possible that someone will recommend you to try such edits out in your native language before "messing" here. MarkBA 10:22, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
Hi MarkBA!It is true that You can write English well but You or Tankred or Svetoid dont know the history of historical Hungary at all and so You write to the wikipedia about this country's history.Besaides Your Slovak sources are not seriouses. I won't write to there if this articles will be seriosly then now. If you know only Stúr and Safarik and Juro Janosik then you can not write articles about history of historical Hungary. 'Cheers Dovidenia Nmate —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nmate (talk • contribs) 11:39, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
- Careful. What you're trying to tell me is called WP:POV. Such statements discourage from normal editing and turn people into warriors and can cause that no one of us will ever take ya seriously. Ad sources: Hungarian aren't quite superior, so pick your words more carefully before saying something like this again. MarkBA 11:52, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
Hi MarkBA!Sorry if You think I was impolite with you. But for example if You have not heard about Ferenc Deák in your life then You can not write articles cities history of historical Hungary from the 19th century at all.You live in Pozsony now. Could you tell me 5 mayor of the city before 1919? You can not find them in your Slovak sources. Why do you think that the Hungarian sources are not good? Maybe is your grandmother a Hungarian and so You know Hungarian a little bit too? I know about the Slovak's historybooks that Slovak only history is very few so the Slovak historians have to tell a lie or steal from Hungarian history.I saw a table on the castle of Pozsony : Bratislavsky hrad Slovenska Narodne Pamiatka. It is very funny.Besides I heard about Frantisek Knapik appointed Juro Janosik for mayor of Slovak army after He death for 300 years.Congratulations!Do you think that from your Slovak sources it is possible to write serious articles? Because you can write English well it is not enough there. 'Cheers DovideniaNmate
