Darko Trifunovic, MSL, PhD. is a lawyer based in Belgrade, Serbia and working as lecturer at the Faculty of Security Studies-University of Belgrade. He is a specialist in Terrorism and Security Studies, and was the author of several books and studies. , published by the Documentation Center of the Government of Republika Srpska's Bureau for Relations with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia.

Trifunovic was previously a diplomat 2001, (First Secretary) in the Foreign Service of Bosnia and Herzegovina at UN. In 2005 he was adviser to the Minister of Police of the Republika Srpska. Trifunovic is Senior Adviser of the Research Institute for European and American Studies (RIEAS) based in Greece. Trifunovic is member of the Board of Directors Jasenovac Research Institute based in New York. He is the Chief Editor of the University international bulletin "Security in Serbia".

Dr Darko Trifunovic is designate by Chinese Center for International Studies – City Municipality of Shanghai as first international Security Expert engaged in Olympic Games Security in China 2008.

Controversy

Darko Trifunovic's research has generated strong protests from Bosniak groups. They have accused him of exaggerating the presence of Al Qaeda in Bosnia and in diminishing the number of persons killed in the 1995 Srebrenica massacre.

Trifunovic has stated that the personal attacks against him are motivated by his research into Bosnian links to Islamic fundamentalism. In an interview with Greek Adnkronos International (AKI) in January 2008 Trifunovic states that he has received death threats from Bosniak Islamic radicals.
