Parapsychology is the study of alleged paranormal psychological phenomena. Phenomena studied include extra-sensory perception, psychokinesis, and survival of consciousness after death; parapsychologists call these phenomena psi, a neutral term non-suggestive of what causes the phenomena or experiences. Parapsychology is a fringe science because it involves research that does not fit within standard theoretical models accepted by mainstream science. So far, none of the paranormal phenomena studied by parapsychology have been proved to exist.
