I've been a Wikipedian since early 2003 and have made over 50,000 edits across hundreds of different Wikimedia projects and languages, but mostly to the English Misplaced Pages. I was an elected member of the Board of Trustees of the Wikimedia Foundation between 2004 and 2006 and have been the Chair of the Advisory Board since January 2007.
In 2004, I founded Wikia, a free wiki hosting site, which aims to build communities by extending the model of Misplaced Pages into areas that are not encyclopedic or otherwise not suited to this project. Wikia follows Misplaced Pages's policies of accepting only free content (as defined by FreeContentDefinition.org) and allowing open editing. My hope is for these two goals to continue to be sought on both projects, and that the organisations running them (The Wikimedia Foundation and Wikia, Inc.) strive to maintain openness and transparency in their management of those.
