Yazid bin Muawiyah was the second Umayyad Caliph, and suceeded his father Muawiyah.

He most notoriously remembered for the Battle of Karbela where the grandson of Muhammad, Husayn bin Ali was killed.

His ruthlessness in pursuing Husayn have made him a despised person in the history of Islam.
