The Himalayas is a mountain range spread over Pakistan, India, Nepal, Tibet (China) and Bhutan. Many of the world's highest mountains, such as the Mount Everest (8856 m) and the Kachenjunga (8598 m) are situated in the Himalayas. The word Himalaya is of Sanskrit origin and means abode of snow.
