The Three Years of Natural Disasters (三年自然灾害/三年自然災害) refers to the period in the People's Republic of China between 1959-1961. It was known to have caused the death of up to 42 million people* from starvation and other unnatural causes, a factor accumulated from the disaster of the Great Leap Forward and many subsequent natural disasters.
