The Association of British Counties is a pressure group in the United Kingdom dedicated to preserving old county names in Britain.

It believes that the old counties are part of Britain's cultural heritage and should be preserved. To this end it has produced a postal directory putting British place names in what it considers to be the correct county. It also seeks to call modern counties "administrative counties".

The historic Counties of Great Britain are fundamental to our culture. Older than cathedrals, more historic than stately homes, Counties like Lincolnshire, Cornwall, Middlesex, Anglesey and Fife are basic to our life. Their names belong to the ground we tread. They are an indelible part of our history. They are important cultural entities.
