Windows 8 is the codename for the next planned major release of Windows that will succeed the upoming Windows 7. It is planned in the 2012 timeframe. It will be a 64-bit only release. Not much other information has been released yet on Windows 8.
In some places, it is being known by another codename "Mystic", "Orient".
