Barnes (born June 24 1965) is a former child actor best known for his role as Tanner Boyle in the movies The Bad News Bears and The Bad News Bears in Breaking Training.
Born in Oradell, New Jersey, he attended Bergen Catholic High School there.

Sometimes referred to by his character name "Tanner" during his teenage years. In a 1998 Los Angeles Times it was noted that he was working in a flower shop in Utah. The article also talked about Barnes' belatedly collecting some savings bonds being held by the California courts that he had earned during his acting career under the Coogan Law.
There is a different actor named Chris Barnes who appeared in the Seinfeld episode "The Pez Dispenser" in 1992 and later in the TV series Life with Bonnie.
