The term describes the actions and attitudes of individuals as well as the policies and pronouncements of governments and other organizations. Anti-Chinese sentiment may be either by non-Chinese, or more rarely, by Chinese themselves, especially those from Taiwan. These ideals comes from mainly United States and Japan, mostly due to a fear of Communism. Even today, in these countries China is sometimes portrayed as a totalitarian state where all items are rationed, and with a state-run economy that couldn't even produce basic consumer goods.
