2008 Ahmedabad serial blasts occurred on July 26, 2008 in Ahmedabad, India. A series of 17 bombs exploded within a span of 70 minutes, in which 18 people were killed and over 100 injured.. The blasts are considered to be of low intensity, and are considered similar to the blasts in Bangalore the previous day.

Ahmedabad is the cultural and commercial heart of Gujarat state and much of western India. In 2002, Gujarat suffered from communal riots.

These blasts occurred immediately a day after the 2008 Bangalore serial blasts.

The bombings

It was initially reported that nine blasts took place within a space of 20 minutes at around 6:45 PM IST.

The bombings took place at following places:

  • Maninagar (2 blasts)
  • Bapunagar
  • Isanpur
  • Hatkeshwar Circle
  • Sarkher
  • Sarangpur Bridge
  • Narol Circle
  • Odhav
  • Raipur

  • Diamond Market
  • Sardar Patel Jn.

The bombs were planted in Tiffin carriers on bicycles, a pattern similar to 13 May 2008 Jaipur bombings.
