It demonstrates how the Internet has changed the lives of a group of college students from across the world. S3D was founded by Sherman Chin and Tiffany Lim in 2001. Its members, SEVO (Sherman3D Extended Volunteer Organization), were volunteers who worked to develop Japanese anime based console-style role-playing video games. S3D's members comprised game developers from different parts of the world with their own unique contributions to S3D's games. S3D strived to create games with intricately woven storylines that combine romance, action and comedy, avoiding extreme violence, but instead embodied good moral values and engrossing storylines with a touch of anime comedy. At the same time, S3D placed emphasis on building a thriving community and has released many resources including tutorials, anime reviews, source code and various other graphical downloads for free.
Sherman3D has a long history where it started as a spinoff from Epix Interactive Studios Inc., a Delaware based company, in 2001 when it closed down when their MMORPG, Fate, was cancelled after the burst of the dot com bubble. Sherman3D was then just a college project as the project started on with Epix was during the founders' college years. The Sherman3D community was founded as a means of keeping the former Epix staff connected and continuously sharing information with each other. The S3D community succeeded in creating the Karawachi space shooter game which caught the eye of Butterfly.net that subsequently invited S3D to develop an MMORPG for their supercomputing grid in affiliation with Sony and IBM. Unfortunately, the project was never completed and Sherman3D ended its term with Butterfly.net.
The Sherman3D game development community then became the catalyst for an award winning business plan that secured the 2nd-runners up place in Venture 2002, Malaysia's first nationwide business plan competition. The award was presented to Sherman3D by Malaysia's Prime Minister, Yang Amat Berhormat Datuk Seri Abdullah Badawi. Sherman3D was then funded by the Malaysian government's Cradle Investment Programme. In the meantime, 5th Cell Media LLC. was co-founded by one of the same founders of Epix Interactive Studios Inc. Sherman3D was then incorporated and continued working with 5th Cell Media LLC.
Sherman3D is now incorpated as Sherman3D Sdn Bhd ( www.Sherman3D.com ), a Malaysian multimedia and game graphic design outsourcing company established since April 2003, specializing in anime inspired sprite pixel art. Sherman3D Multimedia Inc. was incorporated as a branch office in British Columbia, Canada in 2006. Sherman3D works closely with , focusing on artwork for PC, mobile and casual games.

Sherman3D demonstrates how the Internet has become part of the lives of today's generation and how it has connected people from all over the world, forming a legitimate business entity from the evolution of the early Internet communication days where no business would take the Internet seriously.
