St. Barnabas Church, Upper Marlboro, Maryland peer review
I was wondering if you could take some time out of your schedule to head over to the St. Barnabas Church, Upper Marlboro, Maryland and give us an honest peer review. The page has evolved quite a bit in the last few months, and it would be fantastic if a prominent editor/contributor to Maryland topics like yourself, could head over and give us at Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Maryland some sound opinion and ideas on improvements for the page. Several of us have worked very hard at improving the page, and we need great outside, reliable and trustworthy users to come over and help us improve. If you are interested in joining the peer review discussion with other prominent users/contributors, much like yourself, please follow the link. Thank you very much for your help and your continued effort to improve Misplaced Pages and its quality! William B. Henry
Another editor has added the {{prod}}
template to the article William B. Henry, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Misplaced Pages's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Misplaced Pages:What Misplaced Pages is not and Misplaced Pages:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Misplaced Pages or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}}
template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. BJBot (talk) 02:00, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
Defunct High Schools
Hey, Marylandstater, I was hoping to get your opinion on a matter. I have been creating/enhancing Maryland high school pages. I did Harford, Baltimore County, Carroll, Howard, Wicomico, Worcester, and Talbot counties. Through my investigations I have found about half a dozen high schools that no longer exist - Ocean City HS, Sykesville HS, Taneytown HS, Buckingham HS in Berlin, and a few more than I cannot recall off hand. I created OC HS, but it kind of feels like it is in limbo. Are there some good categories that can be used to classify it? Would we want to keep this one and others out of List of high schools in Maryland? Wallstreethotrod (talk) 03:38, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
Baltimore template
The {{Baltimore}} template should not be placed on pages already containing the {{Baltimore neighborhoods}} template. The latter already is there for that purpose. The {{Baltimore}} template is useful for other types of Baltimore-related articles. In general (with some exceptions), a template like this should only be placed in articles that it lists itself.Sebwite (talk) 16:22, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
I am most impressed with the template, good job Deanlaw (talk) 01:11, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Wilson Park, Baltimore
Hi,
Regarding the article Wilson Park, Baltimore, could you possibly convert the 'notes' part to a 'references' section?
There is a lot of information at Misplaced Pages:Citing sources, but you might find it easier to look at some other similar articles, which do use a well-established style, and simply copy their methods.
In this case, a featured articles on a similar topics is Plunketts Creek (Loyalsock Creek).
I hope this information will help contribute to improving wikipedia,
Any questions, please ask me on my own talk page.

- This article is an interesting read and is well cited. I made some minor changes to the positioning of the subheadings, and moved "written works" to the end of the article as is customary. Is there more you could add, perhaps about his judicial philosophy or notable cases? Also, someone pointed out on the talk page that he is mentioned as the first African American judge, but he was also half-Native American, so was he the first Native American judge as well? --Tom (talk - email) 13:11, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:Peterawlings.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Peterawlings.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Misplaced Pages articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Rettetast (talk) 15:43, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
Rogers Morton
Hello there. You recently asked me to look over one of your articles, and now I'm returning the request. I recently rewrote the article on Rogers Morton, a former Maryland congressman who served as Secretary of the Interior & Commerce. I feel it might be worthy to make a shot at featured status, so I was wondering if you had any thoughts regarding the content or anything else. Thanks. --Tom (talk - email) 04:55, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the feedback. I've expanded the article on Joseph Tydings since then as well, and I am currently working on Charles Mathias' article, but that one is taking a bit longer since he was a bit better known. --Tom (talk - email) 12:43, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
Charles Mathias, Jr.
Sorry to bug you again, but I wrote a new article for Charles Mathias, Jr. (as I mentioned in passing above) and went a bit crazy with it. I feel as if this article could have a good chance of becoming featured, but I would like some feedback from people interested in the subject. There is enough content, but I am wondering if there is any place that you feel could use expanding or condensing, or if there is any POV I may have been adding subliminally, etc. I am also concerned about the fact that my primary reference is the Post, but it is still somewhat soon after his departure from the Senate for there to be much else I imagine. I posted on the Wikiproject Maryland talk page as well. Thanks! --Tom (talk - email) 02:30, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the star. Also, I'll look over that Union Bridge article you posted sometime soon. --Tom (talk - email) 00:06, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Maryland Politics and Maryland schools
Hey, Marylandstater, you left a message for me a while ago asking why I deleted the legislative notes on some politician and I never got back to you. Vacation and summer stuff, you know. Anyway, I found that many (if not most) of the legislative notes were bias. Republicans had notes that they voted against the environment and Democrats had notes that they voted in favor of helping families, or such and such. To balance this, I started adding voting records such as voted in favor of increasing sales tax by 20%, which is true. But my edits kept getting deleted. So I thought about it a while and came to the conclusion that Misplaced Pages should not be a bullet-list pulpit for the candidates to express their views on issues, so I started deleting some. I have no problem if the issue is discussed in a paragraph, as long as it is cited. But just a quick, lopsided bullet-list just does not seem fair to either side. So that was my rationale.
A question for you - I have been taking pictures of high schools in Maryland if they happen to be on any of my excursions or errands. I noticed that you took a picture of Chesapeake High School. What did you do to get the sky? It looks like an overlay of 2 different pictures. The sky is pixilated while the school is very clear. Just curious.Wallstreethotrod (talk) 15:23, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
Disputed non-free use rationale for Image:Wjz al and denise.jpg
Thank you for uploading Image:Wjz al and denise.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image on Misplaced Pages may not meet the criteria required by Misplaced Pages:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Misplaced Pages:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Misplaced Pages policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Mosmof (talk) 22:40, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
- Hi, I think you misunderstood the purpose of the tag. It's not a PROD tag, but a dispute tag. The issue isn't whether there is a rationale or not, but whether that rationale is valid. The rationale you've written suggests that the point of the image is to identify the anchors, but since you can just as easily say "XXX appeared on this news program" without an image, the image doesn't really serve an encyclopedic purpose, and therefore it's decorative and not fair use. I'm going to put the tag back in, but I will be happy to discuss it in the image talk. --Mosmof (talk) 01:50, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
