It is a fact. The Bronze Soldier Conflict of Estonia is a proof for that. Look how they covered these events.

South Ossetia

I accidentally deleted it. I kept getting into edit conflicts so I just got tired and pushed through with my edit and it may have gotten rid of some edits along the way. Feel free to re-add it. --Tocino 21:54, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

Part about the journalist victims

Could you add some information for which news agencies those journalists worked? For example I didn't find a single hit via google about Winston Faderly. Maybe the name is not right? -- DanteRay (talk) 22:00, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

I can't find English-language sources for that, that's why I transliterate the name from Russian :(. If I find correctly spelled name I'll fix it. --Alexander Widefield (talk) 22:02, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

I searched in the German version of Google news, and I found this article. It is mentioned that two journalists coming from Georgia to the conflict area had been killed according to the radio station Echo Moscow. They were killed by south ossetian rebels. On of them was a photographer of the Russian news agency Itar-Tass. The second journalist worked for the US-Magazine News Week. Both of them were Georgians.

The Austrian news paper says the same and even tells us the names of the journalists: Alexander Klimschuk and Grigol Schichladse.

Klimchuk's last name looks like Ukrainian. Grigol's last name is better transliterated as Chikhladze (Чихладзе in Russian). I've added them. --Alexander Widefield (talk) 22:14, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

45th Detached Reconnaissance Regiment in 2008 South Ossetia war

Hi Alexander. Yesterday I moved the 45th Detached Reconnaissance Regiment from GRU units to VDV units, but you reverted this. As said in the article abaout the Russian Airborne Troops: "A VDV unit, the 45th ORPSN (Independent Special Reconnaissance Regiment), that reportedly performed brilliantly in Chechnya during the second campaign, was said to actually represent a Spetsnaz GRU unit, which was later proven untrue." Yes, its name is "45th ... Regiment of VDV", but I've read in several VDV sources that its operative commandment is maintained by GRU. --Alexander Widefield (talk) 11:06, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
