The Obama Nation: Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality by Jerome Corsi is an attack book about Democratic Senator Barack Obama and his candidacy for President. Released on August 1st, 2008, it was #4 in sales in nonfiction during the first week of its release. Corsi also co-wrote Unfit for Command, a book critical of Democratic candidate John Kerry during the 2004 US Presidential election.

The book was published by Threshold Editions, a division of Simon & Schuster, whose chief editor is former Republican operative Mary Matalin.

Content

Corsi recounts Obama's early political career in Chicago as well as his relationships with controversial figures such as Reverend Jeremiah Wright, William Ayers, Bernardine Dohrn, and longtime friend and associate Tony Rezko. Corsi also documents what he alleges are Obama’s radical political positions and affiliations.

Factual inaccuracies

Corsi's book has been criticized for its factual inaccuracies. Kate Linthicum of the Los Angeles Times wrote "being No. 1 doesn't necessarily mean being accurate" in regard to Corsi's claims about Obama's religious faith. Media Matters for America has alleged numerous instances of inaccuracies in the book and in Corsi's statements promoting the work. MSNBC's Contessa Brewer confronted Corsi with these alleged inaccuracies and asked "why do you get credibility for the book?". Corsi disputed Media Matters' allegations.
