A supercentenarian is considered "verified" if his or her claim has been accepted by an international body that specifically deals in longevity research, such as the Gerontology Research Group or the Guinness Book of World Records. There are currently 78 known such individuals, of whom 68 are female and 10 are male (the all-time list of supercentenarians exceeds 1,000 entries). All ages are automatically updated daily (today is December 27, 2024).
