Neel Kashkari currently serves as assistant secretary for international economics and development at the Treasury, and in that role, also acts as Senior Advisor to U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson, Jr. He provides counsel to the Secretary on key policy matters.

Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson is expected to name Neel Kashkari to oversee the U.S. government's $700 billion financial stabilization program this week, as the interim head of the new Office of Financial Stability.
