It is Kaufman's second screenplay to be produced, after his debut with Being John Malkovich. Starring Tim Robbins, Rhys Ifans, and Patricia Arquette, the film focuses on a young man raised as an ape (Ifans) and the molds he is formed in by behavioral scientist Robbins and body-hair-covered Arquette.
It is loosely based on the Björk video clip Human Behaviour which Michel Gondry directed in 1993.
