The next elections to the English Misplaced Pages's Arbitration Committee will commence on 1 December 2008. These are the sixth such elections, and the newly elected members will join Tranche Beta. Voting will run for two weeks (exactly fourteen days), and the results will be determined and announced by Jimbo Wales. Nominations will be accepted from 10 November 200824 November 2008. Once nominations are open, Users may declare their candidacy by submitting a candidate statement at /Candidate statements.

Process

Open Seats

  • Per The ArbCom Page, the following Arbs' terms expire this year, all members of Tranche Beta;
  1. Jdforrester (talk · contribs · email) (James Forrester aka "James F.", jdforrester@gmail.com)
  2. YellowMonkey (talk · contribs · email)
  3. Charles Matthews (talk · contribs · email) (charles.r.matthews@ntlworld.com)
  4. Morven (talk · contribs · email) (Matthew Brown, morven@gmail.com)
  5. Thebainer (talk · contribs · email) (Stephen Bain, stephen.bain@gmail.com) - reappointed by Jimbo for one year per and therefore moved to Trache Gamma.
Further, three members of Tranche Gamma, whose terms were originally due to expire at the end of 2009, have resigned:
  1. Paul August (talk · contribs · email) - Thebainer takes this seat per above.
  2. UninvitedCompany (talk · contribs · email)
  3. Jpgordon (talk · contribs · email)

There are therefore a total of seven open seats: five in Tranche Beta and two in Tranche Gamma. (The term extension for Thebainer fills the third vacancy in Tranche Gamma, which would have been the eighth open seat overall.) Assuming the number of arbitrators and tranche structure is left unchanged, the top five appointees will receive full three-year appointments to Tranche Beta (expiring December 31, 2011), and the next two appointees will receive one-year unexpired terms in Tranche Gamma (expiring December 31, 2009).
