Wikibreak. I'm ticked off. Thus, I shouldn't be here. I'll probably just revert a little vandalism. I have other things to do, anywas. Bye. For a while.

I am currently working on recoding my bot, DeliveryBot, in VB. <--Yes, I said VB. Thus, I will be too busy dealing with problems with Microsoft's "simple" coding program to be on wiki that much. Thx 4 understanding!

Template:Multicol-start New homepage!

We've redesigned the home page for (hopefully) the last time for a while. If you don't like the new design, the old page is archived here. To match the new design, the newsletter's format has also been redesigned. I hope you like it!

Note about member list

As the member list seems to have gone basically stale, I have removed all members from the list and moved the member list to a page that is transcluded onto the home page. Please DO NOT add your name to the homepage! Thanks! Template:Multicol-break Sorry this issue is a bit late...

Personal obligations have overtaken my Misplaced Pages time, and I haven't exactly had time to send out this issue. November's issue is coming soon. I promise. :-)

Article of the month...

Every month, I choose an article that I think needs help, or is just plain interesting. This month's article is Nickelodeon Magazine.

Nickelodeon Magazine's article needs help. There are no sources. I know, for this page, it's practically impossible to get it to a FA, but let's imagine we're trying to get it to FA status. That will be a motive for us to add sources, improve the writing, etc. Let's work on this article for the wellness of it! </pep talk>

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Nicktropolis-logo.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Nicktropolis-logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Misplaced Pages. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Misplaced Pages (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:18, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

Non-free media question

A while back, you posted the following on my talk page: "Thanks for uploading Image:Rubytuesday.svg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Misplaced Pages articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information." This is a logo for a restaraunt chain, and, as the non-free rationale stated, "Because it is a logo there is almost certainly no free equivalent. Any substitute that is not a derivative work would fail to convey the meaning intended, would tarnish or misrepresent its image, or would fail its purpose of identification or commentary." Now, this happened two months ago (I haven't been on in a while) and the rationale has been changed, making this whole thing moot, but I'm curious what your thinking is so I better understand the very tenuous copyright adherence in Misplaced Pages. The new rational is that "This image, or text depicted in it, only consists of simple geometric shapes and text. They do not meet the threshold of originality needed for copyright protection, and are therefore public domain." which strikes me as extremely iffy. Can you explain this to me? Thanks. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Hardee's.svg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Hardee's.svg.

"Agreement"

You do not know whether I agreed with you on choosing a random admin to choose what image to use. I did once make a response to you, but have since removed it, which means that response is not in effect. Also, Misplaced Pages talk pages are not places to vote. third opinions are not votes. so I'm not taking part in the discussion. —Mythdon (talkcontribs) 03:23, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Windows task grouping.png)

You've uploaded Image:Windows task grouping.png, and indicated that it's used under Misplaced Pages's rules for non-free images. However, it's not presently used in any articles. Misplaced Pages policy requires that non-free images be either used or deleted, so if this image isn't used in an article in the next week, it will be deleted.

Image copyright problem with Image:Wp logo.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Wp logo.png. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Misplaced Pages's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

IP: 75.40.215.212

Dear 'TheNewPhobia',

Could you please block the IP mentioned? He ignored your previous warning and vandalized twice after that.

Thanks

Topology Expert (talk) 01:40, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

Thankyou for the message. It is not all that important for the IP to be blocked but I was just wondering the following: what if he vandalizes once every three months or so? Surely, he will be blocked if he continues this cycle and there is definitely no hope whatsoever of him stopping?

Anyway, thanks once more for your response. Could you please respond on your talk page next time?
