The former Highway 807 in Ontario started at Highway 11 in Smooth Rock Falls, and terminated in Fraserdale.
The road was constructed in the 1960s to connect the Abitibi Canyon hydroelectric dam in Otter Rapids, Ontario to the rest of Ontario. The town of Fraserdale became its northern terminus and the dam was built nearby. Construction began in 1963 and the road was finished and opened to traffic on July 21, 1966. It was fully paved in 1971, and in 1977, the road was renumbered as Highway 634.

The first road numbered Highway 807 was in the Atikokan area in the 1980s. It became Highway 622 in 1989.
The road's designation was a temporary one, applied to a new highway that was being built between Atikokan and Ignace in Northwestern Ontario. Construction began in 1982 at the Atikokan (southern) end of the proposed routing. In 1986, construction crews began on the Ignace (northern) part of the road, working their way south from Highway 17. The next year, the north and south portions of Highway 807 were linked. The road was officially opened to traffic in September 1989, nad renumbered from Highway 807 to Highway 622.
A link completed
The construction and completion of Highway 807/Highway 622 marks the completion of the last major highway link in Northern Ontario, though this milestone may go to Highway 811 in the event it is extended northwest-ward to Highway 599 and Highway 516 in Savant Lake, Ontario.
