Seek truth from facts (pinyin: shi shi qiu shi) is a slogan in the People's Republic of China referring to economic pragmatism. It was promoted by Deng Xiaoping beginning in the late 1970s. The phrase means to look for economic solutions that have practical application rather than economic solutions based on political ideology (such as those of Mao Zedong).
