Revision as of 02:37, 23 November 2001 by Dmerrill (talk | contribs) (+mushrooms in cooking, 'shrooms.)(diff) ← Previous revision | Latest revision (diff) | Newer revision → (diff)A mushroom is the fruit body of a fungus that is designed to release spores in to the air. Since the mushroom is only the fruit body, and not the whole mushroom, mushrooms will regrow given enough time and if the fungus survives.
Mushrooms are used extensively in cooking in many cuisines. However, many mushrooms are poisonous and eating them can be fatal. Picking your own wild mushrooms is extremely risky and a practice not to be undertaken by amateurs.
Psilicybin (sp?) mushrooms possess hallucinogenic properties and are commonly known as "'shrooms".
