Revision as of 18:45, 5 March 2009 by Vchimpanzee (talk | contribs)(diff) ← Previous revision | Latest revision (diff) | Newer revision → (diff)Paul Harvey Aurandt, Jr., known on-air as Paul Harvey, Jr. (born 1948 or 1949), is an American radio broadcaster and the current host of News and Comment on ABC Radio Networks. He is the only son of the late Paul Harvey and his wife Lynne.
Paul Jr.'s version of the show is significantly different in that it is taped in advance (as opposed to the same-day recordings Paul Sr. performed), and focuses on non-current topics such as "scientific developments, medicine, unusual phenonena and other stories that are not directly connected to the day's news," and often contains "no time-sensitive or topical material." As a result, several stations have either moved the program to less prominent time slots or dropped it outright.
Paul Jr. has hosted the morning edition of News and Comment since April 2008, when his father left that edition of the show. He ends the broadcasts by saying, "Now that's news." Prior to this, Paul Jr. announced the intro and outro bumpers leading in and out of each show and helped write some of the scripts, including The Rest of the Story, another Paul Harvey feature. No announcement has been made whether the show will continue after Paul Sr.'s death, or in what form. In the meantime, a week of tributes will be run from March 1-5, 2009, by Gil Gross.
